while attending the university of miami in the 2000's and having spent many years as a professional dj, Jonathan "rico" Arroyo fell in love with being a part of miami nightlife and events. throughout those early years, rico developed numerous creative skills to help build and promote his brand. these skills would become the foundation to his business later in life.

while working for various nightclubs, hotels and restaurants, rico noticed issues between creatives and management. there was a lack of consistency in quality of the content being produced, as well as a lack of communication between graphic designers, web designers, social media managers, photographers, videographers and management of those venues.

Always having an entrepreneurial spirit, rico saw this as an opportunity to take his network, education and experience to manage a team of elite creatives and provide consistency in image and branding. first this was accomplished in management positions such as marketing director for individual venues and then later for numerous clients. 

the term "avant garde" means "the advance group in any field, especially the visual and musical arts, whose methods are unorthodox yet advanced and innovative". this perfectly described the team rico put together and thus avant garde media was born.

over the last 15+ years, avant garde media has traveled the world including destinations such as india, dubai, russia, south korea, italy, London, new york city and chicago and worked with some of the largest brands including pepsi, espn, capital one, ferrari, bacardi, heineken, mastercard, ray-ban and kellog's just to name a few. while working with those brands avant garde media has participated in some of the largest events such as the bad bunny x100pre tour, the super bowl, the grammys, formula 1 miami grand prix, nba all-star weekend, mens final four, the college football playoff championship, tribeca film festival, the burton us open snow boarding championship and numerous others.

today, we continue doing what we love while setting the bar in terms of the quality and turn around time of the content we produce.
